Dollar Clubhouse, the former home of the family of R. Stanley Dollar, is a stately mansion with a homey feeling.
With its charming patio, comfortable rooms and cozy atmosphere, it’s a popular place for intimate gatherings. Its beautiful grounds feature a pool for the not-so-serious swimmers, picnic grounds with barbecues and horseshoe pits, and paths for walking.
Rossmoor founder, Ross Cortese, purchased the Rossmoor, Walnut Creek, property from the Dollar family of the Dollar Steamship Lines in early 1960. The Dollar family developed the 2,200 showplace estate, where they raised horses and prize purebred Hereford cattle. The Dollar family summer home is still part of Rossmoor and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
