A COVID booster-only clinic will be available for residents in Rossmoor on Thursday, Feb. 24.

The clinic, sponsored by the Rossmoor Emergency Preparedness Organization (EPO) and Rossmoor’s Counseling Services, will run from 10 a.m. to noon in the Fireside Room at Gateway.

Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) will administer booster doses of Pfizer and Moderna to any residents who have been unable to receive the third shot.

To ensure enough vaccines are available at the booster clinic, residents are asked to register by calling the Counseling office at 1-925-988-7750 or emailing While registration is strongly encourages, walk-ins are also welcome.

Residents should bring their COVID vaccine card to the clinic so the booster shot can be added to the card. Residents who have lost the card can find out at the clinic how to receive a new one.

EPO President Fran Gibson noted in an email blast to the organization’s members that while 80% of county residents are fully vaccinated (with two vaccines), only 48% of the county’s population has received the immunity-enhancing booster shot.

Boosters provide extra protection against breakthrough COVID cases, with seniors being among the most vulnerable because of weaker immune systems.

“Alas, for a myriad of reasons our ‘check engine light’ comes on way more often than folks younger than 65,” Gibson wrote in the email blast.
