By News staff

(Thursday, June 1, 2023) About 5,000 homes lost power Thursday night in an outage that appeared to be isolated to the area around Rossmoor. Power was restored around 9:30 p.m.

Initially, PG&E said the outage, which began at 8:30 p.m., might last until 11:30 p.m. Several PG&E trucks were seen on Ptarmigan Drive, although the reason for the outage was not yet known.

The phone lines were down at the front gate during the outage.

According to the outage map, the homes not affected were on Golden Rain Road and Skycrest, Pine Knoll and Oakmont drives, as well as The Waterford and manors in that area. The Fitness Center, however, was also affected by the outage. Some homes on Rossmoor Parkway and Leisure Lane also appeared to have retained power.
