(Tuesday, June 8) Controlled burns are planned for today and tomorrow on the John Muir Land Trust’s Painted Rock property in Moraga.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the public can expect to see smoke in the area, especially around the neighborhoods of Rheem Valley, Carrol Ranch, Bella Vista and Buckingham Drive.

Moraga-Orinda Fire District’s firefighters are consulting officials with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and National Weather Service to be certain conditions are ideal for the controlled burn.

The controlled burn is part of fire training for the Moraga-Orinda Fire District.
