Residents reminded to cancel reservations for pools, Fitness Center

No-shows at Dollar and Hillside pools have continued from the summer into fall, even as some residents have trouble finding a desirable reservation time for the two outdoor pools.

As many as 200 swimmers were no-shows in a given week during the summer. And while those numbers slipped to just over 40 per week in late September, they still leave residents who would like to swim shutout because those no-shows failed to cancel their reservations.

Now, with the Fitness Center open at just 10% capacity, staff are impressing upon residents the need to cancel a reservation for the pools and Fitness Center if they cannot make their reserved time so other residents can fill those spots.

Residents who make a reservation for access to the pools or the Fitness Center are required to cancel their reservation a minimum of two hours in advance if they are unable to attend, said Director of Resident Services Jeff Matheson. That’s because there are limited spaces available for the two pools and the Fitness Center. (By county order, the indoor Tice Creek pools remain closed.)

“The goal is to make sure all available times are reserved,” Matheson said. “This takes cooperation.”

Reservations can be canceled via the App, online at www.ticefitnesscenter.com, or by calling the Aquatics office at 925-988-7854 for pool reservations or 925-988-7850 for Fitness Center reservations. Those who need to cancel via phone for the pools after 2 p.m. or on the weekends should call the pool directly: Hillside at 925-934-4686 or Dollar at 925-930-8176.

Failure to cancel a reservation in advance may lead to suspension of use privileges for both the pools and Fitness Center.

“Help us keep the limited access full and available to all by doing your part and canceling reservations a minimum of two hours in advance whenever you are unable to attend,” Matheson said.

Residents who do not cancel and have two no-shows in a 14-day period will be suspended from use of the pools and Fitness Center for seven days, according to the Aquatics office.
