(Thursday, Oct. 26, 10:40 a.m.) The article in Wednesday’s Rossmoor News listed the wrong time for the Danville Community Band concert on Sunday. The concert will begin at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19 in the Fireside Room at Gateway.
The band will open its 2023-24 season by performing its “Fall Potpourri” concert. The concert will encompass a wide range of music including dances, folk songs and love songs from a variety of composers including Aaron Copland, Burt Bacharach, and Frank Ticheli, along with a flute feature, a march and more.
The special guest conductor will be Ruth Brittin, composer of “Danza La Habana,” who will join the band to direct her piece.
The Danville Community band was formed in 2001. Since then, the band has averaged five or more performances per year with regular appearances at the Danville Independence Day parade, Memorial Day observances, and other local events, dinner concerts and performances in the Blackhawk Automotive Museum.
This free concert is sponsored by Rossmoor Recreation.
