(June 20, 2020) Tice Creek pool will reopen Thursday, June 25, at 1 p.m. as the county continues to relax restrictions under the stay-at-home order. Opening the roof and windows allowed the pool to qualify for reopening.
“We have to make it as much of an outdoor pool as possible,” said Resident Services Director Jeff Matheson.
An updated county public health order also means additional swim sessions are now available at the three Rossmoor pools. Hillside will keep its number to six swimmers, as the pool is being used for lap swims only. Dollar will double those allowed to 12 swimmers for open swim. And Tice Creek will permit six swimmers in the lap pool and 10 for open swim in the exercise pool.
Classes, lessons, family time and guests are still not permitted. Swim sessions are for residents only.
Swim sessions are 45 minutes each and start at the top of the hour. Reservations must be made in advance.
Reservations now are being accepted only by calling 925-988-7854, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. No emails or voice messages will be accepted. Residents must talk with a live person to receive their confirmation.
Residents can book up to three sessions per week, 14 days in advance. (So, they can have six reservations on the books at one time.)
Hillside and Dollar are open daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., except during cleanings, when the pools remain closed until 1 p.m. Cleanings take place at Hillside on Tuesday and Dollar on Wednesday. Tice Creek is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., except on Thursday, when it won’t open until 1 p.m. Tice Creek also is open Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Residents also can make a reservation online if they are a member of the Fitness Center. Those who are not a member can call 925-988-7850 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to talk to a staff person, who will help them create a membership.

Sunbathing is permitted at Dollar for any of the 12 swimmers who have a reservation, but it will be part of their 45-minute session, Matheson said. Reservations for sunbathing only are not available.
Locker rooms remain closed, with only restrooms open. Outdoor showers are open to rinse off.
As the County Public Health Orders are frequently changing, residents are reminded that these protocols could change at any time and with limited notice. Below are the most up-to-date rules for the outdoor pools in Rossmoor.
