Parks & Picnic Grounds

// Parks & Open Space

Our 1,800-acre valley includes 700 acres of open space, rolling hills, manicured parks, botanical gardens and winding trails, as well as viewpoints to take in the scenic Tice Valley, Mt. Diablo and beyond.

Few active adult communities can match the natural setting Rossmoor calls home or its diverse offerings of parks, gardens, trails and picnic grounds.

Of Walking and Hiking Trails

A Valley Unlike Any Other

When developer Ross Cortese established Rossmoor on the former Dollar family estate, he deliberately planned a community that preserved the natural character of the Tice Valley. Even the functional spaces make the most of Rossmoor's natural setting. Here are just a few of our parks and picnic grounds.

Dog Park

Open daily for residents' dogs -- and their owners

Sportsmen's Park

Picnic grounds with a pavilion, gas grill and large grassy area

Dollar Park

Featuring picnic tables and outdoor stage under a canopy of oak trees

Shady Glen

An intimate picnic grounds tucked into the tree-covered hillside

Iris Park

One of the most scenic walking paths in Rossmoor

Fairway Park

One of many small parks located throughout Rossmoor

Rossmoor has a trails system for all levels the connects the major West Ridge and East Ridge Trails that border the valley. The trails can be reached by 17 access points throughout Rossmoor.

The trails are maintained in part by the Rossmoor Trails Club, which offers a variety of hikes every Wednesday and Saturday. The club is divided into four hiking groups of varying levels.

Las Trampas Regional Wilderness

// PET-FRIENDLY LIVING

Rossmoor's Dog Park is a community for more than just your furry friends.

The fenced area located in the rear right corner of the Tice Creek Fitness Center parking lot is a designated park for dogs of all sizes and a perfect place for their owners to interact.

Dogs can play off-leash from 8 a.m. to dusk on the artificial surface. Chairs line the park for owners to sit and socialize.
There's also a Dog Park Club with guest speakers on pet-related topics.
