Pickleball

Pickleball Court

Currently at Rossmoor, pickleball is played on three outdoor Creekside Courts on Rossmoor Parkway and two shared indoor courts in the Tice Creek Fitness Center gym.

Schedules

Rossmoor’s Pickleball Club was established in September 2009 with 79 members. As of the end of December 2023, membership was at 597.

The sport is played with a paddle and a Wiffle ball on a court that is 44 feet long by 20 feet wide. In pickleball, the same court is used for both singles and doubles play. The court is striped with a “non-volley zone” 7 feet from the net on both sides (referred to as the “kitchen”) and two service boxes 10 feet by 15 feet on both sides.

Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the United States. According to the Association for Pickleball Professionals, in 2022 there were 36.5 million pickleball players in the United States compared with 2.46 million in 2015. It has grown 158.6% in the past three years, according to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association.
