Wednesday, February 5 (3:00 p.m.): Rossmoor Counseling Services will have its first Optimum Wellness Lecture of the new year on February 18th at 1:00pm, in the Fireside Room. Daisy Gallegos of Adult Protective Services will be speaking to residents about Financial Scams/Elder Abuse and APS Services.

Ms. Gallegos has been with Contra Costa County’s Adult Protective Services for over three years. She conducts outreach and training for community partners and members, focusing on elder abuse awareness and APS services. She also helps manage programs and grants within APS. She has served as Vice-Chair of the Health Care for the Homeless governing board for several years. Her passion resides in supporting her community and raising awareness about the challenges faced by the older adult population.

Join us for an informative session on elder abuse awareness, focusing on identifying, preventing, and addressing various forms of abuse that impact older adults. This presentation will provide an overview of Adult Protective Services (APS), including its role, reporting protocols, and the vital services it offers to safeguard vulnerable adults.

A key highlight of the session will be a deep dive into financial abuse, exploring common scams targeting older adults and practical strategies to recognize and avoid these threats.
