Monday, August 11 (2:30 p.m.): AARP Smart Driver is offering its Refresher Course on Friday, Aug. 22 from 12:30 to 5 p.m. in Multipurpose Room 3 at Gateway.

This course is available to Rossmoor residents who have taken any AARP Smart Driver class within the past three years. By taking this class, residents may feel safer and become more confident drivers.

Topics to be covered include driving strategies, techniques to compensate for age-related changes, updates on road safety laws, proper use of new technology found in cars and more. After taking the course, residents may be eligible to receive a discount on their car insurance rates (please check with your insurance carriers).

The cost is $20 for AARP members (membership number required) and $25 for nonmembers. A check written out to AARP is required at the class. Instructors cannot take cash or a credit card. All students must bring their driver’s license to class. Due to the amount of material to be covered, participants must arrive on time.

Classes are limited to the first 20 Rossmoor residents. Dates and times are subject to last-minute changes.
