Now entering the slow zone
Repaving work around Rossmoor to cause road closures, traffic delays beginning next week
By News staff
Friday, September 20 (2:00 p.m.): Repaving work in Rossmoor will cause some road closures and traffic delays through early October.
A section of Tice Creek Drive, between Singingwood Court and Stanley Dollar Drive, will be repaved on Tuesday, Sept. 24, closing that section of road to traffic in both directions. Detour signs will be in place.
Residents south of this area (e.g., Canyonwood Court, Ptarmigan Drive and Terra Granada Drive) should use Rossmoor Parkway to get around the closed area. Singingwood Court will remain accessible for vehicles, but motorists should be prepared for minor delays entering and exiting as the intersection with Tice Creek Drive will be repaved as well.
Residents in Tice Creek Drive Entries 1 and 2 who need to use their vehicle are asked to park outside the construction zone on Stanley Dollar Drive. These two entries will not be accessible for vehicles between 8 a.m. and approximately 5 p.m. Golden Rain Road, between Tice Creek Drive and Oakmont Way, will undergo significant work between Monday, Sept. 23, and Thursday, Oct. 3. Westbound lanes will be repaved the first week and eastbound lanes the second week.
Two-way traffic will remain in place, but motorists should be aware of lane shifts. This work will take longer than other repaving projects because of issues with the road base, according to GRF Trust Maintenance Manager Martijn Lemmens. A soil-stabilization company will lime and cement treat the road base before repaving begins. The biggest impact, however, will be along a stretch of Rossmoor Parkway scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 1. It involves the repaving of the outbound lanes between the intersection with Golden Rain Road and the gate facility. One lane will remain open during construction.
For a couple of hours during the work, motorists on Golden Rain Road wanting to turn left to exit Rossmoor will instead need to travel southbound on Rossmoor Parkway and make a U-turn at the first intersection with Terra California Drive. Tice Creek Drive and Stanley Dollar Drive serve as alternate routes to get onto Rossmoor Parkway to exit the community.
Motorists heading northbound on Rossmoor Parkway who want to make a left turn onto Golden Rain Road for access to Gateway, Tice Creek Fitness Center and pools or Hillside are asked to instead use Tice Creek Drive and Stanley Dollar Drive, as the left turn will be closed.
In the weeks following the completion of paving work, new striping will be placed that might cause minor traffic delays.
First responder agencies will be informed, and emergency vehicles will have immediate access to all areas at all times.
“Everybody’s patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated as these necessary improvements are being made to our infrastructure,” Lemmens said.
