Security Services
Securitas is Rossmoor’s security service company and they provide Rossmoor with 24-hour services, seven days a week within the Rossmoor gate. Their services include entrance control at the front gate, motorized patrol of the community, assistance by Emergency Medical Technicians, response to non-emergency requests, protection from solicitors and traffic control. In addition, the Securitas staff handles the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags for all Rossmoor cars, as well as resident ID cards. Access to Rossmoor is through a radio frequency tag affixed to the car windshield of our residents.

Bus Transportation
Rossmoor’s Bus Transportation Department operates in Rossmoor seven days a week. Buses are on fixed routes throughout the community and to nearby businesses including Rossmoor Shopping Center, the John Muir Outpatient Center at Rossmoor and local medical and dental offices. Residents may also call Dial-a-Bus to take them places during off-hours. Residents can also catch a bus to downtown Walnut Creek and to Walnut Creek BART. Rossmoor offers a Paratransit bus service for residents in need of wheelchair assistance. Bus information and schedules can be found here.

Rossmoor Library
The Rossmoor Library is a modern library facility with current selections of fiction, nonfiction, DVDs and large-print books. All Rossmoor residents can check out books from the Library which is open six days a week. Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 4 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Recreation Department

The Rossmoor Recreation Department offers a variety of programming all year long in Rossmoor. The Recreation Department staff is responsible for booking all of Rossmoor’s community facilities. Recreation offers weekly musical entertainment, concerts, variety shows, films, dances, lectures and daily trips to local sites, museum visits and to see shows in San Francisco. Overnight and extended trips are also offered.

Counseling Services
The Rossmoor Office of Counseling Services is staffed with licensed clinical social workers who are available to provide residents and their families with private consultations, short-term counseling, crisis intervention, resources and referral information. Counseling Services also offers support groups on a variety of issues facing residents and their families.

Adult Education

The Acalanes Adult Education Center located right next to Rossmoor offers seniors many low-cost classes. Classes include literature, languages, travel, personal finances and computers. In addition, Diablo Valley College Emeritus Program and Osher Lifelong Learning ((510) 642-9934) offer adult education classes in Rossmoor and nearby.

Rossmoor News
The Rossmoor News is a weekly newspaper published every Wednesday and carrier-delivered to every home in Rossmoor. Residents pay for the newspaper as part of their monthly fees. Rossmoor News offers complete news coverage of the Rossmoor community including news of the governing bodies such as the Golden Rain Board. Other regular weekly items include features on residents, arts and leisure activities, club and sports news, health information, columns and letters to the editor.

Rossmoor TV
Rossmoor Television, Channel 1083, is Rossmoor’s community access channel exclusively for residents. Channel 28 offers a variety of programming including fitness and health, historical and financial programs, entertainment, lectures, and book reviews. The channel also covers all meetings of the GRF Board as well as special budget meetings. Other programming includes information on scams, emergency preparedness, counseling services and police protection.

Farmers’ Market
Every Friday from May through October, Rossmoor hosts a Certified Farmers’ Market in the Gateway parking lot from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Farmers come from all over to sell fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Friday Lunch
Rossmoor hosts a county lunch program every Friday for just $2. Sponsored by Contra Costa County, the lunch program offers residents a hot, well-balanced lunch featuring a hot entrée, vegetable, fruit, dessert and a drink.

Volunteer Services
Residents are encouraged to volunteer in many areas throughout the community. Volunteer opportunities include the libraryFitness Center, Friday Lunch, during entertainment programs, in the social lounge, and for educational programs.

Clubs and Organizations
Rossmoor has more than 200 clubs and organizations covering the spectrum of arts and crafts, political, books, social, dance, entertainment, sports and fitness. Many of the clubs sponsor classes and lectures. Many classes are offered by the clubs including dance, painting, ceramics, drama, photography, computer, and language.
